Summer Hiatus Over?

No, I haven't totally forgotten about the blog. It just seems that I took the summer off. I kept plenty busy with other things, but scrapbooking took a back seat, for once, and since this is primarily a scrapbooking blog, there wasn't much to say.

For the first time since I've been keeping track (and that has been at least five years), I actually went a full calendar month without creating a single scrapbook page. The closest I got to scrapbooking in July was making a couple of cards. August hasn't been much better, but I'm trying.

The kids went back to school last week, and I am very excited since I finally have both boys on a full day schedule. We take our traditional first day photo in the front yard in front of our tree. I started that tradition the first year we moved into our house (when the oldest was in preschool), to watch the growth of both the boys and the tree. Here is one of this year's shots of the new fifth-grader and the new first-grader:
School seems to be going well so far, with the exception of the fifth-grader having trouble catching the bus home. He missed it the first two days of school and again yesterday.

I have already filled some of my potential scrapbooking time with taekwondo. I've been watching the boys do it for a year and a half and was always fairly convinced that I had no interest in it myself. I finally jumped on the band wagon and joined them. There are classes offered during the day, so I can do something for myself without infringing on the boys' schedules. We all just tested for new belts about two weeks ago and got our new ones last week.

Within the past week or so, I have finally gotten a few pages done. I hope to (finally!) start on my Disney album from last year. We are headed back to the World the week before Christmas, so ideally I would like to have the 2010 trip "in the books" before the next one takes place. At this point I may settle for at least getting the album started by then.

Here is what I've done to try and get back in the saddle, and I hope to not let another two months go by before I post again.
